Bloggin' Blahs

I've sort of been in a funk lately, I think it must be the winter blahs. It seems like it always hits this time of year, anxious for warmer weather, ready to say goodbye to cold weather and snow. I'm pretty sure we are not out of it yet so I've been trying to take every advantage to get out on the "decent" days with the kids. It's amazing what fresh air does for everyone. Last week we had a really nice day and we were outside playing and Hallie said, "Mom let's get the slip n' slide out!!" She was pretty sad when I told her that 50 degrees wasn't warm enough to get it out. She did however settle for flip-flops and a light jacket.
Here are just random pictures of the girls...

Test....Passed!

We found out last Thursday that Jake passed his test! Yes Yes Yes!!! I felt so relieved when he told me. I can't even imagine how relieved he must feel. Now we just have to wait for his license and then it will all be official. I don't know which is more exciting, the thought of him not having to study anymore or the thought of actually making some money. Anyway life is good and I'm so thankful for all of the ways that our family has been blessed. How greatful I am for the guidance of our Heavenly Father and the help and strength he gives to us as we seek it.

Test.....Over!!!!

There's a big feeling of relief at our house today. Yesterday Jake took his Occupational Therapy National Board Exam, which if he passes he will then officially be an Occupational Therapist. He's put in a lot of hours study for this thing. We are both just so happy that it is over! Now we just have to wait and find out if he passed. Hopefully on Friday he will find out. I'm really proud of him and all the hard work he has put in to get to this point.
On another note... I think Hallie has been struggling with the fact that she has a little sister that wants to do everything she does and is always following her around because she had her teachers at school help her make this sign, and then she hung it on the door. Everytime Sadie would get near her stuff she would say, "Sadie read the sign!" Last night when I was putting the girls to bed Hallie let out a huge grunt. I asked her what was wrong and she said, "I'm just frusterated." I asked her why and she said,"It's hard having a sister. She's always wants to do what I want to do and she's always getting into my stuff." I tried to point out all the benefits of having a sister. I asked her if she felt better and she said, "No, I'm still frusterated." So today we made a little secret hiding place in the closet where Hallie can put her "special" things. She then moved the sign to the closet door. Oh the joys of Motherhood! Hopefully this will help with the frusteration.

They Say it's your Birthday

I'm pretty behind in posting what we've been up to. I just haven't been that into blogging lately, but here are some pictures of Sadie's birthday. She turned two on December 19th. This seriously kills me that she is two. It has flown by. It's very fitting that her middle name is "Rae" because she really is a little Ray of Sunshine. She really is happy most of the time and is always making us laugh. She is our comic relief around here. She's full of spunk, a little mischievious, and has a very tender little heart. She loves her sister Hallie and always wants to be where she is doing what she is doing. She's figured out that she can pretty much get what she wants when she wraps those little arms around your neck and kisses you right on the lips and is good and making a deal--a kiss and a hug for your bowl of ice cream or a big bowl of Ramen noodles. She loves her Daddy and totally has him wrapped around her little finger. She's sad when Jake has to leave for work or to study and says, "I come." We love her so much and are so thankful that she is part of our family! I love spending my days with her and Hallie and seeing their uniqueness and individualality grow and develop each day.

This is the first time I've ever really spent a lot of time and effort on a Birthday cake. It was pretty fun, but I was kind of sad when we cut into it.

Anyone seen the Birthday girl?

This makes me smile....

Finally Graduated!

Well we went back to South Dakota this past weekend for graduation, it was good to go back to see friends and neighbors besides the very cold -42 degree weather. It was fun to see the old stomping grounds. My sister and her husband came with us which was fun to show them around and eat at some of our favorite spot's; Hu Hot, Jones, and we went to Old Chicago in Omaha and then to Ted and Wally's for some great home made ice cream (Thanks Bryce and Brittany for introducing us to the place). So needless to say we ate extremely well, got to visit with friends and had a great time. We left the kid's in Utah and spent a couple of extra day's in Las Vegas to celebrate Nicole's birthday. We accepted a job here in Cedar City, so Nicole is extremly excited that we get to stay and don't have to move.

Winterfest & Gingerbread House's

Hallie's preschool had a program a couple of weeks ago in which they sang some song's and other things. She loved singing the song's and dancing, especially doing the chicken dance. We made some gingerbread houses as well together as a family, Sadie and Hallie loved making the house's, but loved eating the candy off of the house's more.

The Holms get festive!

I figured it was time for a new, festive look for the old blog. We've also been getting festive around the house. The Saturday after Thanksgiving we went and cut our Christmas tree with my family. It was a lot of fun. There was even some snow on the mountain and the kids had a lot of fun playing in it. Since we have vaulted ceilings we went all out and got about a 9 or 10 foot tree. It's so fun to have a super big tree. I love it. Hallie got to put the star on. It was a fun family day, cutting and decorating the tree. It's so fun to do the things with our kids that I remember doing when I was a young. Jake especially loved the part when he had to haul to tree a quarter mile or so all up hill in the snow. :) I think it's safe to say that, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"
