Kindergarten
Once there was a girl who was so excited to go to kindergarten. She waited all summer, and soon it was time for school to start, except for those starting kindergarten. They had to wait 2 more weeks! "It isn't fair!", the girl exclaimed. Each day the girl cut off a link to her count down paper chain
Finally the time had come, it was the first day of kindergarten.
The girl woke up early, before anyone else and put on her clothes that she had layed out the night before.
She put on her shoes, and she ate breakfast, a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch of course.
She asked her mom to tie her shoes and fix her hair in two braids. She brushed her teeth and put her backpack on and asked, "Is it time to go yet?" Her mother replied, "No, honey it's 8:00 am and school doesn't start until after lunch remember?" The girl sighed a long sigh and said "It isn't fair".
The girl's mother tried to think of things to keep the girl busy for awhile.
Well finally it was time for lunch and it was time for kindergarten. They loaded up the car and headed to the school. "Can't you drive any faster mommy?" the girl asked. The mother just smiled. Finally they had arrived. The girl, so excited, burst out of the car. "Is it okay if I walk you in today? the mother asked. "Okay I guess mommy" the girl replied. The mother walked quickly to keep up with the girl but couldn't.
The girl was happy. She had finally made it to kindergarten! She waved to her mother. The mother gave her a hug and kiss and made her way back to the car and back home with smile on her face and a heart that ached a little for her baby that was not a baby anymore, but was a kindergartener.
3 hours later, a big yellow bus dropped a kindergartener off on the curb. The kindergartener ran toward her mother and gave her hug. "How was your day" asked the mother. "Best day ever!" the girl replied as she ran all the way home.
The End.

3rd
When and How did this happen? I have a third grader.
Day by day and little by little this has happened right before my very eyes. I was watching the kids the other day playing outside together and it hit me, it hit me how big they are all getting. They are becoming more independent, having opinions and their own ideas about things. I got sad for a minute and then I thought about the little people they are becoming;
Hallie and her love for learning new things, and how she's always thinking of fun things to do and how she includes her best friend and little sister Sadie in her big plans. Sadie and her tender little heart and her honest perspective of life. Mckay and the "little big man" he is, trying to keep up with his big sisters and always keeping us on our toes, who would be completely content with playing with a ball all day.
Then I felt so thankful and blessed to be their Mom and to be able to watch them grow-up.
So here's to 3rd grade; it's going to be a great year!
