Dear Mouse,

You're in my house,
I've seen you,
I've heard you.
You've made yourself quite at home
for 1 week now.
Why are you so smart?
You eat the peanut butter off the mouse trap
every night without it going off.
How?
You are not welcome here,
you are making me crazy.
please leave,
please fall for one of my traps
Please be gone.
You scare me and I don't like you .

Love,
me

6 mouse traps, may the odds be ever in my favor.

On  another note, Happy Halloween!
Here's the kids from last year

Halloweening

We had a Halloween party with the neighbor kids.
The girls made the invitations,
Sadie made the pumpkin and the noses, for pin the nose on the pumpkin.
Grandma made the bean bags for toss the bean bag into the pumpkin game.
The girls put marshmallows on the ends of pretzel sticks and I dunked
them in white chocolate for bones.
I wrapped little hot dogs with strips of crescent rolls to make mummy dogs.
I stuffed apples with marshmallows and peanut butter to make smiles.
I made sugar cookies for decorating...
and we partied
and fun was had by all.

Little man

Oh the little man,
he's got a hold on me that's for sure.
Having a boy is sooo different from having a girl.
Oh how I love this little guy.
Even when he makes me want to pull my hair out.
He is quite naughty at times,
but then he looks at my with those big blue eyes and I melt
or he dresses up like this and I laugh and laugh.
Or when he busts out singing Phillip Phillips "Home".
He's been quite miserable lately...
teething, working on those cuspids.
and a cold on top of that.
Poor little man.
He's got me that's for sure.

Morning run

I found the coolest spot to run, not to far from our house.
It was such a pretty morning, cool and crisp,
golden leaves all around.
Such a great way to start the day.

Yesterday...

was a beautiful fall day so instead of driving Sadie to
school I ran her there. Wow it was a workout, pushing roughly 80
pounds while running.  Sheesh my kids are getting big.
The ride put the little dude right to sleep.
Yesterday I also talked with Hallie's doctor about the results from
the VCUG she had done on Monday. I was hoping for good news but instead
the right kidney, which two years ago had no reflux, is now a grade 3 (on a scale from 1 to 5) and
the left side is a grade 1. Not what I expected. When she was 3 and we discovered she had this reflux problem the doctors said that kids usually outgrow this by age 5 to 7. She's 8 and now it's worse? I don't get it.  He referred her to the Urologist from Primary Childrens so hopefully we can get it figured out. For now it's back on the antibiotics to prevent infection. After talking to him I cried. I feel so bad that she has to deal with all this. I'm worried about her kidneys, I'm worried about her being on antibiotics for so much of her life. I know it will be ok, she will be fine, it's just hard to watch your kids go through hard things. I don't like it.
The day went on and was a good day. Oh, life and the twists and turns. :)
Today there is no school for the kids and no work for Jake. Woo hoo! So after dentist appointments for the kids we're off to play, going to a pumpkin patch, shopping, and whatever else.
Yay for today!

Over the weekend...

we headed  north, dropped the kiddos off at Grandma and Grandpa's and then
the hubs and I played.
We went to the Utah/USC game, not the greatest game, but fun to be there.
We stayed in a fancy hotel, which we never do, but we had a discount so we went for it. Crazy how expensive it was even with a discount!
We stayed in the Grand America and boy was it fancy.

They even give you chocolate every night.
Then we went to Park City and rode our mountain bikes. The trail we went on was
a bit over 8 miles. It was beautiful. The weather was cool and crisp and the leaves were so pretty.
I only crashed once! Better than I anticipated. :) Such a good time.

After that we shopped, ate yummy food, slept in, and just
enjoyed hanging out, kid free.
Saturday afternoon, we went out to Jake's parents where the kiddos were.
Sunday afternoon Hallie and I went to General Conference.
That was one of the things she asked for, for her birthday way back
in May. So we went! It was great to be there. Hallie liked seeing all the apostles and
President Monson. She was amazed at all the people. It's amazing how many
people they can fit it the conference center.

And that was our fabulous weekend...
Now it's back to reality.

Granola

My favorite thing for breakfast lately is homemade granola (recipe found here)
I really like this recipe, not too sweet, and low fat and super yummy. I like mine with apples or peaches or berries.

The little man likes it too :)

Thoughts...

Motherhood

I came across this on pinterest and loved it.
Being a Mom has taught me so much.
Things that I couldn't have learned any other way.
Some days are good and some days are great
and some days are well, not so great.
I lose my patience, I don't make dinner, the laundry is piled up,
the house is a mess, the kids don't listen to me,
they fight, and the list goes on.
I'm thankful that each day is a new start, the chance to be better than the day before.
A chance to see things in a new perspective and to realize that
the things I do everyday really do matter and can make a difference...
I like this quote
"It may seem simple, all the little things you do.
But the lives you touch matter so much,
and there's no one else like you.
And Father needs you to be strong and faithful, to be all you can be.
Oh, if you could seen what He sees.
You'd believe in what you're doing.
You'd believe in who you are.
Hold tight to the truth that you're a daughter of God.
Believe in who you're becoming.
Believe in who you are."

Have a great day!
