Sadie

With attempts to do better at the whole journal thing, here's a few things about this girl:
Sadie is a kind of girl that has to do things when she is ready and on her own terms. She is not easily persuaded. This could be a really good thing in the future, but a little trying at times right now. She is finally potty trained though, Woo Hoo!! It took quite a bit of doing and a lot of persuassion. It seems that she can't resist polly pockets. We let her choose out a polly pocket at the store and put it in the bathroom and she was ready to do anything for that polly pocket! Sadie is a snuggle bug and a Mommy's girl. She wants me to snuggle with her everynight before bed in her bed. It's pretty hard to resist that little face saying, "Sguggle me mommy". It would be nice is she would let Jake do it every once in awhile, but  maybe I should just enjoy it because one day she's probably not going to like it anymore. She loves her blankie and her thumb-still.  It's probably time to try and break that habbit, but it is still pretty cute. She has a big imagination and plays by herself with her polly pockets and her barbies for long periods of time talking to them and with them. She is very motherly and is always trying to mother other little kids. She is getting more excited about having a baby brother, especially since we told her that he would probably like to play with polly pockets with her. (no need to burst her bubble yet right?) The other day she asked me if I had a puppy in my tummy too.
Sadie is the comic relief around here. She has a silly, spunky little personality and is always cracking us up with the things she says and does and the faces she pulls. She can also be kind and caring too. When Hallie is upset she gets really concerned.
A funny thing about Sadie; after we moved into our new house and started going to our new ward she started talking about a boy named Brandon and how he was her boyfriend. I couldn't figure out who she was talking about. She would ask me if Brandon could come over and play and I couldn't figure out who she was talking about.  When I went to pick up Sadie from her primary class once Sunday her teacher asked me if I knew that Sadie has a little romance going on in the Sunbeam classs. Apparently Brandon is a boy in her class that she always wants to sit by and hold his hand. She calls him her "boy" .One Sunday after church the primary president  told me how she had to separate Sadie and Brandon during singing time because Sadie was trying to kiss him! So after church we had a talk about how it's not ok to kiss in church and that they should just be "friends." Wow, didn't think I'd have to worry about this yet! It is pretty funny and cute though I have to admit. Jake and I substituted primary on Sunday and it did seem like things have cooled off a bit between them. They only sat by each other for half the time. :)
Sadie loves to sing and sings around the house most of the time. She likes to do puzzles, ride her bike. She is also our big movie girl and loves to watch movies. She's excited to start preschool this year.
She is such a fun little girl and we love having her in our family!

Hallie

A few things about this girl: ( I meant to do this when she turned 6, but I didn't)
Hallie is a kind little girl and is very helpful. She is a good helper and loves to help me in the kitchen, making dinner. She is smart and is a good reader. She's very excited to start school and can't wait to have a desk of her very own and to take her own lunch to school.  She loves structure, organizing and planning.  She's entered the joke phase and loves telling knock-knock jokes about anything and everything. She especially loves to tell the joke, "Guess What?  That's what." She pretty much got me every time for the first few days, but I'm on to her now. Now the trick is to get her, which is very hard to do. I think it's time for some new joke material. :) Hallie is sensitive, a good quality, but comes off a little dramatic at times.  She is brave and for the most part loves to try new things. (except not when it comes to food) She loves life and is good at enjoying it do the fullest. She is good at making simple things really really fun. She is a good big sister and a good example. She loves Sadie and takes good care of her. Sadie is going to miss her when she goes to school. I'm sure Hallie gets a frusterated with Sadie always wanted to do what she does, but she is patient most of the time and good at including Sadie. Hallie loves going to primary and especially loves singing the song, "A long time ago in a beautiful place." A song they are learning in primary about the Savior. I love hearing her sing it, and seeing in her eyes that she feels something when she sings it.  Hallie loves to read from the scripture stories each night and is good about reminding us to do it.  Hallie is very  loving. Lately she has wanted to massage Jake's and my feet. Now that is love! She gets lotion and gives us quite the massage. I love this little girl so much and am so glad that she is party of our family.

My "Elder" Brother

On Sunday Jordan was ordained to an Elder. He's sent in his papers and he's waiting for the call now. I am so excited for him to be going on a mission. He is such a good guy and an awesome uncle and brother that we all love so much. It's really crazy to me that he is really that old, but I'm so excited for him. Sorry if this is embarassing Jord, but I just love ya!

Cookie Crackers

Sadie was begging me to make a "birthday cake" one day. I really wasn't up for it so she settled for this instead.

Sisters

This summer, with being out of school the girls have gotten to spend A LOT of time together. Sometimes a little too much. Their relationship is fun to watch for me, since I didn't have any sisters. It's very much like in the book, "A Tale of Two cities". They have "the best of times" and  " the worst of times". They have their moments where they play together so well and then the other moments where they are driving each other crazy and won't leave each other alone. They love each other very much though and I'm so glad that they have each other.

Lake Powell

We had our annual trip to Lake Powell a couple weeks ago and as always we had a wonderful trip. We came away with no sunburns (amazing), memories of a wicked sand storm, great memories made swimming together, watching the kids tube, ski, and live in the water for 4 days. There was a big group of us- 27 total between our family and my cousins, the Payne family and it was so great to all be together. Sadly I didn't come away with to many pictures, it seemed that my camera was always somewhere else when I wanted to snap some pictures and my pregnant, tired, hot body just didn't feel up to getting it. But here's what I got...

Hallie riding the trainer ski. All the kids couldn't get enough of this.

And it's a.....

Hooray for that! Jake, Hallie, and I all cheered. Sadie cried. She had her little heart set on a sister, but she's starting to come around. Everything in the utlrasound looked good, that they could see. Our little guy was being quite shy and wouldn't show himself! He had his face covered with his hands the entire time. I'm super excited to have a boy, not quite sure what to do with one, but excited to find out!
