Last week....

was crazy! Full of all things Halloween, basketball, and Jake's birthday! Such a fun week.
Sadly on Jake's real birthday (Wednesday) it was too full of "stuff" that we didn't get to celebrate that day. Jake went with the youth to the temple and I took the kids to the carnival at their school. We made up for it on Thursday by going out to eat while Grandma and Grandpa watched the kiddos. Then we celebrated with cake afterwards.
Friday was Halloween class parties, the school parade, and hamburgers for dinner. It was such a beautiful day we spent the evening  jumping on the tramp, mowing the lawn, playing basketball, soaking up the crispness of fall.
Saturday morning I went for run in the hills with the pooch. Then it was a basketball game for Sadie, last minute costume stuff and then trick or treating and trunk or treating. Followed by ridiculous amounts of candy consumed and children bouncing off the wall until the sugar high wore off. Yay for one extra hour! It was such a fun day but I was a bit relieved it was over. Let's set up the Christmas tree! Just kidding (kind of). Its coming!
Sunday was restful and just what I needed. We ate soup and rolls for dinner and monster cookies (throw in all your Halloween candy) for dessert.
It's a new week and new month. This month I'm going to try and focus on being more thankful, to really try and open my eyes to the beauty around me.
It's there, but so often I don't even notice.

The end.

Fall Break

The kids were out of school Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. With no big plans and rainy weather we spent a lot of time inside but it was nice (mostly:)) to have all the kids home. We ventured down south one day so Hallie could take full advantage of Red Lobster and their all you can eat shrimp special. That girl and her shrimp I tell ya, it really is something. A trip to Ross and an unplanned trip to Costco to fix our flat tire and then we came home. I took the kids swimming one afternoon, the kids made cookies together, Mckay sang the Spookely the square pumpkin song over and over. It's still ringing in my ears. He did however learn a new Halloween song at preschool today that he's been mixing with the Spookely song; something about a witch who tears her britches. I love this age so much. Everything is so fun and exciting and he says the funniest things. He's constantly making me laugh.
We also watched the first Star Wars movie with the kids. Sadie was the only one who made it through the whole thing. She asked me about halfway through "Mom, how old is this movie?! Were you alive when it came out?!" I instantly felt old. Ha! Kids really know how to keep things real. That was about it. Today it was back to usual, school, laundry, carpool, basketball practice, homework, dinner, baths, etc.

The kids making cookies. Yes they fight a lot, yes they drive each other crazy but at the end of the day they really do love each other and I hope they will always be close.
