Mckay eating his second breakfast of the day, no clothes
Weekends are the best. They come and go way to fast.
This past weekend included:
*trip to Costco, Target and Old Navy,
dinner for half of us at Durangos and hot dogs at Costco for the other half.
I was excited to find cute Easter outfits for the kids
*Jake going for a chilly bike ride, doing some home health visits
*on Saturday I gave the girls lists of chores and told them I would give them money to spend at the dollar store if they finished them. They did a good job, they didn't even whine. So off to the dollar store we went. They had been eyeing the school supply aisle and all the fun stuff they have to play school with. So that's what they bought: mini staplers, teachers planning books, prizes for the good students, etc. As soon as we made it home, they set up their "classroom" and were in the zone. I love it when they get in the zone of playing with each other. It went on for awhile before the arguing and fighting began. I was impressed.
*made and ate lots of caramel popcorn
*date night with the hubsters. Went to Wingers and Home Depot to look at paint. We could have gone grocery shopping together and I would have been just as happy. So nice to get out without kids!Apparently while we were gone, Mckay jumped off of the couch and hit his nose and ended up getting a bloody nose. As soon as we walked in the dooor Sadie gave us the full report with a reenactment and everything leaving nothing out. "And the blood was everywhere!!" she said. That's our Sadie, full a dramatics.
*lots and lots of basketball! I like basketball but holy cow...
*finally watched Les Mis. So so good. I needed some tissues for sure.
*Mckay made it through nursery on Sunday. Jake was sneaky and was able to make a getaway. He cried a bit, but not the usually freak out and he even conked out for part of it. Which ended up being a bad thing later on. He didn't get his normal nap and was crabby the rest of the day, but so glad he stayed the whole time. Definite progress.
*Sunday dinner included french toast for the kids, and Jake made us his famous Nachos. Growing up my Mom was amazing, always making these yummy Sunday dinners, mashed potatoes and everything. I've been trying to follow her example. Last week I made mashed potatoes, chicken, the whole bit and I think the only thing the kids ate was the chicken. So this week I was saying, "No to fancy Sunday dinner." And they ate every bite of their french toast. Go figure.
And that's about it I guess. Here's to a new week... only 2 days of school for the kids and then their off for Easter break. Trying to figure out what to do for the break.
Happy Monday! |
