First day in First Grade

It's time, time for school. I can't believe how fast it came. My baby's in first grade, what the heck?! How did this happen?! Kindergarten was perfect, but first grade is long. I've had some anxiety about it. Hallie has been so stinkin' excited so I've been trying to hide it. I am excited for her too, she will love it and is so ready for it, I just can't help but be a little sad. As she was getting on the bus today with all those BIG kids, she was so eager and never even looked back at the mother with the camera and watery eyes,(me). Only 6 1/2 more hours till she will be home and tell me about her day...yikes that's a long time.
All set, she was up, showered, ready to go with 30 minutes to spare!

Heading to the bus stop

Trying out the nice roll feature of the new backpack

New shoes. I took her shopping in St. George and when we found these shoes she was sooo excited because they were "just her style!" I have to agree. These are fancy Hallie shoes for sure!

Up-cycling

This is my up-cycling effort. I had everyone save their caprisuns when we were at Lake Powell. Who knew that you could sew caprisuns on your sewing machine? Well you can! I still have some so I might make a beach bag.

Camping

We went camping over the weekend with Jake's dad to Tropic Resevoir, over by Bryce Canyon. We had such a great time. It's so beautiful over there. We went on fun 4 wheeler rides and saw lots of deer.

Called to Serve

Jordan got his mission call to the Independence, Missouri mission. I'm so excited for him and know he will be a great missionary. He leaves November 3rd.

Sadie

With attempts to do better at the whole journal thing, here's a few things about this girl:
Sadie is a kind of girl that has to do things when she is ready and on her own terms. She is not easily persuaded. This could be a really good thing in the future, but a little trying at times right now. She is finally potty trained though, Woo Hoo!! It took quite a bit of doing and a lot of persuassion. It seems that she can't resist polly pockets. We let her choose out a polly pocket at the store and put it in the bathroom and she was ready to do anything for that polly pocket! Sadie is a snuggle bug and a Mommy's girl. She wants me to snuggle with her everynight before bed in her bed. It's pretty hard to resist that little face saying, "Sguggle me mommy". It would be nice is she would let Jake do it every once in awhile, but  maybe I should just enjoy it because one day she's probably not going to like it anymore. She loves her blankie and her thumb-still.  It's probably time to try and break that habbit, but it is still pretty cute. She has a big imagination and plays by herself with her polly pockets and her barbies for long periods of time talking to them and with them. She is very motherly and is always trying to mother other little kids. She is getting more excited about having a baby brother, especially since we told her that he would probably like to play with polly pockets with her. (no need to burst her bubble yet right?) The other day she asked me if I had a puppy in my tummy too.
Sadie is the comic relief around here. She has a silly, spunky little personality and is always cracking us up with the things she says and does and the faces she pulls. She can also be kind and caring too. When Hallie is upset she gets really concerned.
A funny thing about Sadie; after we moved into our new house and started going to our new ward she started talking about a boy named Brandon and how he was her boyfriend. I couldn't figure out who she was talking about. She would ask me if Brandon could come over and play and I couldn't figure out who she was talking about.  When I went to pick up Sadie from her primary class once Sunday her teacher asked me if I knew that Sadie has a little romance going on in the Sunbeam classs. Apparently Brandon is a boy in her class that she always wants to sit by and hold his hand. She calls him her "boy" .One Sunday after church the primary president  told me how she had to separate Sadie and Brandon during singing time because Sadie was trying to kiss him! So after church we had a talk about how it's not ok to kiss in church and that they should just be "friends." Wow, didn't think I'd have to worry about this yet! It is pretty funny and cute though I have to admit. Jake and I substituted primary on Sunday and it did seem like things have cooled off a bit between them. They only sat by each other for half the time. :)
Sadie loves to sing and sings around the house most of the time. She likes to do puzzles, ride her bike. She is also our big movie girl and loves to watch movies. She's excited to start preschool this year.
She is such a fun little girl and we love having her in our family!
